GMAC GLOBAL RELOCATION SERVICES 'WEBINAR' WILL GIVE COMPANIES AND TRANSFEREES INSIGHT INTO CHINA'S CULTURE

April 19 Presentation Looks at Dos and Don'ts for Living and Working in Remote Areas of China During This Time of Explosive Economic Growth

Oak Brook, Ill. (April 13, 2005) - GMAC Global Relocation Services will offer a free online "Webinar" presentation titled, "China: Beyond Beijing, What Companies and Their International Assignees Need to Know," on Tuesday, April 19 at 11 a.m. ET.

The one-hour Webinar will provide revealing insights into China's unique cultural dynamics and what they mean for international assignees living and working in areas outside of Beijing, the country's capital and science and technology hub.

"China's explosive economic growth means one thing for American and European companies: opportunity," said GMAC Global Relocation Services' President and CEO Rick Schwartz. "However, there are myriad major cultural differences that can present significant hurdles unless companies and their transferring employees are prepared. 'China: Beyond Beijing' is part of our ongoing educational Webinar series in which we help multinational corporations understand not only what it's like to live and work in these dynamic global locations, but what they need to do to ensure their employees not only adapt, but thrive."

Schwartz said the Webinar will provide an overview of common stereotypes and perceptions about Chinese culture, introduce business and social protocol "dos and don'ts" for interacting and working in areas outside Beijing, and outline suggested communication strategies for bridging cultural differences. Participants will have the opportunity to compare and contrast cultural differences in China with their own cultures along 10 research-validated dimensions, enabling participants to identify and resolve challenges in their own communications.

The Webinar is being hosted by independent consultant R. Barry Spaulding, the former deputy commissioner for International Commerce at the New York State Department of Economic Development. Spaulding has served as a consultant on a range of international projects for American businesses in China and negotiated and structured many of the early U.S. joint ventures in that country. Cities he will discuss include Changchun, Dalian, Liuzhou, Yantai and Shenyang. Participation in the Webinar is free and limited to the first 100 registrants. Separately, the company announced that there are less than 60 days left to participate in its Global Relocation Trends Survey, the industry's hallmark study for measuring trends in international mobility. Conducted in conjunction with the SHRM Global Forum and the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC), this survey has uncovered trends in global relocation and assignment management since 1992. Organizations can participate in the 2005 Global Relocation Trends Survey by completing this year's survey online at www.gmacgrsglobalsurvey.com. The deadline to participate is May 31, 2005.
