Giving back to the community is a core value for all companies in the ResCap family because the strength of the communities in which we work and live contributes to our success as a company.
Every year, GMAC GRS associates generously open their hearts to give back to their communities, donating time, money and much needed goods to organizations and individuals in need; 2007, was no different. We are proud to celebrate the profound spirit of giving and community support demonstrated by our associates.
Around the globe, GMAC GRS employees are supporting cancer research through activities that include the Detroit Global Service Centers efforts to raise funds for a local cancer center in Detroit Michigan, the London Global Service Center participation in Breast Cancer Campaign’s "Wear it Pink" day, and Morristown, NJ Global Service Centers' participation in the American Cancer Society’s annual 5K walk Making Strides Against Breast Cancer®.
Our U.S. teams also annually participate in events to assist families in need. For nine years the Morristown office has raised funds to help battered women and their children, and also aid mentally challenged families and individuals who are trying to make it on their own. The Detroit Global Service center generously supported a local food bank, and the Woodridge Global Service Center fulfilled the holiday gift wish lists of four local families in need.
The London office also supported the When You Wish Upon A Star children's charity whose aim is to grant the 'wishes' of children suffering from a life threatening illness. The Woodridge office’s giving campaign included Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Tails Humane Society, PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter), Hesed House, a not-for profit coalition serving the less fortunate, and Guardian Angel Community Service, an organization providing services to children, families, and individuals who are victims of abuse. The Detroit office also contributed to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, a human service organization dedicated to providing basic human needs such as food, clothing, and household necessities. The Morristown office is also playing an active role in the Boxes for Baghdad campaign, sponsored by ResCap.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
One of ResCap’s most effective methods of increasing awareness and participation in our communities is our annual giving campaign, traditionally conducted during the fall of each year. In addition to the traditional annual giving campaign, ResCap offers a volunteerism campaign during the spring which encourages associates volunteer a small piece of time to a local charity of their choice. ResCap promotes and encourages opportunities in each local office, encouraging teams to volunteer together to build camaraderie.
Each year, ResCap selects Community Partners for our annual giving campaign that highlight the type of organizations that align with ResCap’s business interests and serve the communities where our employees live and work. Because ResCap’s primary business is providing capital resources for residential real estate needs, one of our strongest non-profit affiliations is with Habitat for Humanity International with whom ResCap has had a relationship for more than a decade.
ResCap also believes in following the hearts of their employees, encouraging employees to dedicate themselves to the many important and worthwhile causes that are dear to them, and offers programs to encourage and multiply those gifts through matching donations and corporate grants.
